Story
On Sunday 26th September three generations of the Ellis family are hoping to be running and raising £500 towards this charity target. Whilst Paul and Geraldine’s daughter Rachel (Whelan) runs in the Half Marathon, Rachel’s two boys Oliver and Matthew will run in the 1.5 mile Mini Marathon with Grandma and Grandad. They will be joined by daughter Karen (Silvester) and her two children Emily and Rosie. Youngest runner will be Matthew who is just 5 and oldest is 72-year-old Grandad Paul.
With a family love of football (Geraldine and Paul met at Forest over 50 years ago) they have chosen ‘Head for Change’ as their charity. ‘Head for Change’ is a charitable foundation, pioneering positive change for brain health in sport and supporting ex-players who are affected by neurodegenerative disease as a result of their professional sporting career in football or rugby. Affected by this illness is a good friend of the family Dave Watson, who started his career with Notts County and won 65 England caps.
All will be running at different paces, but one thing for sure is that they all intend to finish and raise money for the charity. Should Covid cause any to drop out, they will still run the distance at a later date.
