Story
Refuge is the largest domestic abuse organisation in the UK. New data from Refuge shows that the cost of living crisis that we are currently experiencing is forcing survivors of domestic abuse to stay with abusive partners - in particular younger and disabled survivors.
Universal Credit rates are lower for women under 25, so they have even less money to try and meet the increasing costs of essentials.
For disabled women the hidden costs of having a disability are particularly a concern and we know the cost-of-living crisis is having an even bigger impact on them.
They need our help and they need it now.
In 2023 I will be running in the London Marathon to raise essential funds for Refuge and the thousands of women and children that they help every day.
If you do not already know, this is a 26.2mile course starting in Blackheath and finishing at The Mall.
Between now and April 2023 I will be aiming to raise £2,500 for this amazing charity to help keep their life saving services running.
I understand this year, many of you may not be able to afford to donate much, however if you have even a few pounds to spare then please click donate and help me and Refuge in funding support for thousands of women and their children, helping them to overcome the physical, emotional, financial and logistical impacts of abuse and rebuild their lives — free from fear.
Thanks, Gx
