Story
As those of you who know me will know, I love Anaesthetics! Not only is it the largest specialty, but Anaesthetists have contact with over 2/3 of patients who will enter a hospital! We are exceptionally lucky in the UK to have access to the drugs necessary to make surgeries and pain management safe and accessible to all patients. However, around 5 billion people worldwide lack the luxury of access to surgical and anaesthetic care, mainly in the developing world. Many will die or be left severely disabled or in pain as a result. Safe Anaesthesia Worldwide (SAWW) ensures the benefits of anaesthesia are available wherever needed, so that patients can receive the treatment they need, safely and painlessly.
In aid of this worthy cause and on behalf of the Anaesthetic National Teaching Society (ANTS), I am planning a sponsored run in Wigan around Haigh Hall- approximately 6km! Many of you will know, I am not a runner, and the last time I did something like this was three years ago, so I really hope you will support me in doing something that is very much out of my comfort zone and for such a fantastic cause!
