Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
On April 10th, I'll be running (and definitely part walking!) the Brighton marathon, and am fundraising for The Sepsis Trust in honour of my Nan, Mary Gregory.
Nan had Sepsis in 2016, only weeks before Alex and I were going to get married. We were told to expect the worst, but importantly the hospital staff knew all the signs and treated her quickly. She amazed us all by making a full recovery, and was with me walking down the aisle (even if she had to be rolled in a wheelchair!). She even celebrated her 90th birthday in January 2017 with a surprise party with many friends and family.
Unfortunately, only a few months later in June, we were back in hospital and found out she had Sepsis again. I refuse to say that the time she lost the fight, because there is no chance she would have backed down from a fight! Instead, we believe she was ready to go and picked for it to happen when no-one was around - she always did do things on her own terms!
If you were lucky enough to meet her you know there are really no words to describe her. She was an amazing woman who always had a smile on her face, with a huge heart sharing love with everyone she met. Literally. She would sit at the bus stop and speak with the person next to her and find some connection they had, chatting as if they had known each other for years. She was 'tough as old boots' and didn't let anything get her down. I will be channeling her determination and strength as I attempt to run 26.2 miles for the first time, and I would be even prouder to have raised money for the UK Sepsis Trust in the process. I hope you'll be inspired to give anything you can to help their great work!
Unfortunately I've been plagued by injury throughout training, so there's still a big question mark about whether my body will actually manage a full marathon in April. I'm doing absolutely everything I can to make it happen. IF I can't, I'll drop down to the 10k in April this year, and defer my full marathon entry to 2023.
Please donate what you can!
PS. I'll be running a half marathon on the 27th Feb as part of my training and supporting The Sussex Beacon. If you can help them too, please visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/georgina-gorman-half
Lots of love, Georgina xx

Fundraising is at the heart of our fight against sepsis. It raises awareness, and sparks the question: “What is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms. It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
