Fundraising for St Gemma's Hospice
Since being 10 years old, St. Gemma’s Hospice has been a major part of my life.
My mum, Kim Mathers, was lovingly cared for in her last years by everyone that she came in contact with her there.
Not only that, they took me in, and made me feel safe…. as much as what was going on was horrible, that it was a safe, normal environment and that I could spend quality time with my mama while she was ill.
It’s a funny thing is a hospice, they mark the end of life, and you’d almost deem them to be a horrible place because of what they represent…. But thats so far from the truth, it is without a doubt the most caring supportive place I’ve ever been to.
Fast forward 14 years and we found ourselves there again with my Aunty Estelle, and you’re propelled back into their embrace and loving support for the final weeks of your loved ones life.
I wanted to find the right way to give back to St. Gemma’s and do something challenging, and here I am, about to run the London Marathon.
So this is for you Mum, and Aunty Estelle. This for for all the people who suffer huge losses in this remarkable place, and for those people who in the future have family members that have to go here. It’s a remarkable place, and it needs all the help it can get, so please donate what you can, and I’ll do my best on the day.
To my mamma and Aunty Estelle, I love you all the world and back again, all the blades of grass, and don’t you dare, ever forget it.
Love Georgie x
