Story

Thank you so much for visiting my page. Any donation no matter the size is really appreciated.

Here's my story... Almost 10 years ago my father died. He was an amazing dad and a brilliant all round guy. Before he became ill he ran the London Marathon multiple times and I had promised him that one day we would run it together... not that I'd be able to keep up. So I am doing this, for the second time, for him. Thanks A LOT Dad! You can't say I don't keep my promises, he will be with me the whole way. He got me over the finish line the first time despite injuries and not much training so I'm expecting the same helping hand this time.

I'm sure anyone who knows me will understand how tough the training is going to be, not just physically but emotionally too. For a start I may have to cut down my weekly alcohol intake (just the week before right?) and possibly eat less chocolate (i heard it's a good source of energy). Seriously though, its difficult when out on a 2 hour run not to be thinking back to the main reason for doing this and how much I miss my dad.

So here I go again, pounding the pavements of South London or welcome breaks from the city up in the Lake District visiting my mum.

What is MS?  Well my Dad had it and unfortunately it was one of the worst cases ever reported. He died within 4 years of being diagnosed which is very rare. I'd never really heard of it before so here are some facts for those of you who don't know.

The Science Bit..MS is an autoimmune condition. This is when something goes wrong with the immune system and it mistakenly attacks a healthy part of the body – in this case, the brain or spinal cord of the nervous system.  Exactly what causes the immune system to act in this way is unclear, but most experts think a combination of genetic and environmental factors is involved.  There is no cure for MS. MS-UK are doing some phenomenal work to provide those suffering with MS and their families with information and support, whatever it is that is needed for that individual. I support them because they do so much to support others.

If you got this far through... well done and thank you! NOW GO DONATE!!!
