Story
Hi,
I am Gee, one of the owners of The Yard Coffee. I’m going to cut right to the chase here of why I am asking you lovely people of The Yard community to read this. The month of May marks five years since my dad lost his battle with prostate cancer, and within that five years a lot has happened including me opening a bloomin coffee shop… which looking back five years ago seems unimaginable! This month I asked Shane, Tait and Hannah if they would be on board with us donating some money to the hospice that looked after my dad and my family during this time and they said yes because they are lush! So we will be donating the proceeds from our specials this month to Compton Care. Now I have just given the game away that I am from the lovely city known as Wolvehamtpon so I appreciate this isn’t raising money for Norwich, but my dad was from Norwich and he bloody loved this city so I would also like to split this money in donating it to the Big C which also does amazing work within the Norwich Norfolk community supporting people with cancer.
I am also adding this just giving a link to the page here to donate money if you can and would like to. I appreciate we are in a cost of living situation however this is why hospices like Compton Care need support and donations more than ever! Running a hospice such as this is so costly in electricity alone, but the care they give to the patients and the family is unmeasurable. The support they gave to my family during this time we are still so thankful for today and I feel so proud to be in this position to give some money back to somewhere that gave me and my family so much support and made the last weeks with my dad easiest it could have been.
I would like this to maybe be a future thing we do every year and remember my dad in the best way possible and support other amazing charities that need it. Maybe even one day I will do a challenge of some incredible feat to raise money but for now I feel getting to 5 years without my dad and seeing him love this coffee shop like so many of you do is a challenge completed for me.
As always - big love for all your support
