Story
In March 2021, Anna experienced her first epileptic seizure and was admitted to hospital. Following further seizures, Anna was formally diagnosed with Epilepsy.
The Epilepsy Society was enormously helpful for Georgia and friends, to understand what was happening and to support Anna. Funded through donations, the Society operates a world-leading research unit in Chalfont St Peter for diagnosis and treatment.
We all feel so lucky that Anna was able to be admitted to the centre and we were particularly struck by the kindness of the support workers, nurses and doctors. Due to Covid-19, she was unable to have visitors on site. Despite being incredibly busy, the staff helped Georgia and friends to come and wave from the public footpath behind the hospital (although the weather didn’t cooperate and a few strange looks were given)!
During Anna’s stay, she spoke with several patients who mentioned that they had been waiting for months to attend the centre. This left both Anna and Georgia with a strong drive to give back to the Epilepsy Society to help more people with this condition. Anna’s epilepsy is now controlled effectively with medication and we cannot thank the doctors, nurses and support team enough.
The London Marathon will be a huge challenge for us both, and we really appreciate any donations and support with training runs or cheering on the day!
