Story
On 29th September 2020 our lives pretty much came crashing down around our ears. Our sweet boy George went to bed feeling totally fine, and woke up in terrible pain a few hours later. While we waited for the ambulance he went totally floppy down one side, and the paramedics took one look at him and just scooped him up and took us all to the Bristol Children’s Hospital.
The next day we found out he’d had a stroke, a relatively small stroke in terms of size, but in a really important part of his brain. He didn’t move his left side for four weeks, and we started planning out a whole different future for ourselves, one that included wheelchairs and stair lifts and long term care.
But after three months living in the hospital he was back on his feet, and this was entirely due to the utterly heroic efforts of his physios, doctors and nursing staff.
When you're child is really sick, you want the doctors and therapists around them to have absolutely everything they need to be able to help them. We count ourselves SO lucky to live so close to this amazing hospital and we wanted to raise some cash so that every family that is unlucky enough to need them can get the best possible care.
So this year Simon is attempting to run the Bristol Half Marathon. This is a man who used to drive the 500 meters to the co-op, so it's a big challenge for him! He's been training for a coupke of months and I can safely say he is hating almost every second of it - so please make it worthwhile and sponsor him. I PROMISE you the money is going to a good cause!
