We help families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them

Story

Our Georgie came to us a treasured gift in May 2009 after being told we couldn't have any more children. As soon as he was born he became the centre of our lives. His brother and sister instantly adored him and he was the most intelligent and articulate little boy, wrapping everyone up in those big brown eyes of his. On the 18th June 2012 our lives changed forever, our Georgie was diagnosed with cancer. He had no symptoms apart from a swollen tummy that had appeared over a weekend. We were absolutely devastated, here was our little boy still happy and full of life. Within 4 days of being diagnosed he had to undergo a 6 hour operation followed by 4 days on intensive care to remove the mass. George being George got through this although there were times we thought he wouldnt, within 3 weeks he was out playing footie in the garden with his beloved brother and sister. A further week on we had the secoond blow that the disease had spread to his lungs and bones. Georgie had stage 4 neuroblastoma for which he had to undergo 70 days of intensive chemo, followed by high dose chemo and a stem cell transplant where he had stay in 1 room in isolation for 4 weeks because he was so dangerously ill, the chemo took away all the lining of digestive tract and he had no immune system at all, he underwent serious respiratory problems where we thought we'd lose him, but he pulled through each time with an incredible inner strength. By Christmas 2012 all Georges scans and tests came back clear he was in remission!

By the beginning of January Georgie had a tummy ache and was admitted back to hospital, within 10 days he was taken from us in such a cruel manner by this aggressive, unrepentant disease.

Our Georgie was a true soldier, adored by all, he was always happy and loved life. We are tall otally heartbroken but now know he never stood a chance against this killer. All we have left are our memories of this truly wonderful angel. We have set up this fund in his name as CLIC have been there for us all the way and if we can help another family having to go through this dreadful nightmare then we will continue to fundraise in his name.

Many thanks
