Story
In the run up to my 60th birthday in August I decided to undertake a few challenges that involve the number 60. One of them is to run a 60 mile race. So, on July 15th I'll be running the Race to the Stones. This starts in Lewknor, Oxfordshire and follows the Ridgeway all the way to the Avebury stone circle in Wiltshire.
The Ridgeway has been described as Britain's oldest road, at least 5,000 years old. It follows the chalk ridge of the Berkshire Downs and passes numerous Iron Age forts and the famous Uffington White Horse.
I've been training for this for about 4 months and have run over 700km during this time, averaging about 50km per week. I think I'm ready, but this is a lot further than I've ever run before. I really don't know how I'm going to get on. There's only one way to find out...
Please donate as much as you can. Woking and Sam Beare Hospices are a very good local charity providing palliative care that improves the quality of life for local people suffering from terminal illnesses. A donation of £1 per mile (or even £1 per kilometre) would really help to achieve my target. But any donation, of any size, would be very much appreciated.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
