Story

To mark his retirement this coming autumn after sixteen years as Chairman of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, George Hibberd, who has completed every Walk the Wight since 1993, plans to 'warm up' for this years event by taking part in the Firewalk on Newport Quay which opens this years Walking Festival.

'I noticed that the Firewalk is scheduled for 9th May, which happens to be my 62nd birthday,' says George, 'and it struck me as the ideal way to celebrate. Besides which, after having my feet cauterised, I shan't need to worry about blisters whe I tackle Walk the Wight the following weekend!'

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Earl Mountbatten Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
