We raise funds to enable specialist advisers at Citizens Advice Rutland provide non-medical advice to people of all ages living with long-term health conditions in Rutland & the surrounding community.

Story

We are both very fortunate that we have not had to use the services offered by For Rutland through Citizens Advice and hopefully we never will, but it is fantastic to know that it is there if we ever do. Their help to the local community is priceless, but unfortunately this priceless service to Rutlanders does cost someone. This is why we are taking part in a series of events this year to help, in some small way, to raise some much needed funds to not only keep the service going but to further improve their offering.

For Rutland raise funds to pay for specialist advisers based at Citizens Advice Rutland. The dedicated advisers provide free, confidential, non medical advice to people of all ages who are living with long term conditions, such as cancer, dementia, strokes and mental illness. The trained advisers are able to help local residents with practical problems associated with long term conditions, such as access to NHS services, housing, debt, employment and relationships issues and they also ensure that clients are able to get necessary funding through grants and benefits at a time when they most need it.

The Events:

Stamford Valentines Run (George and Julie) - 12 February - 18 Miles

Pain and Suffering (George) - 11 March - around 14 miles, 40+ obstacles

Brighton Marathon (George and Julie) - 9 April - 26 miles

Double Rat Race (George) - 6 May - 40 miles, 400 obstacles

Market Harborough half marathon (George and Julie) - 10 June - 13 miles

Rutland full marathon (George and Julie) - 17 September - 26 miles

Spartan Beast - 30 September (George and Julie) - 14 miles, 35 obstacles

Spartan Sprint - 1 October (George and Julie) - 4 miles, 25 obstacles

Harborough night run - 6 November at 5am (George and Julie) - 4 miles

Total number of obstacles - 560, total number of miles - 268

The totals are approximate as the obstacle races can be slightly more or slightly less, but for someone who works in an office all day this is a pretty exhausting year. So any support you can give to me and this fantastic charity would be very much appreciated.
