Story
My amazing 16 year old nephew Alfie has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Alfie was diagnosed with DMD 13 years ago and I am always amazed by Alfie’s bravery and how fully he lives his life with this condition - from cricket scoring to studying so hard for his GCSE exams, from pursuing his interest in photography to setting up a sports reporting blog. Every now and then Alfie needs his own space and independence and that’s where Martin House comes in. Alfie loves it there. The opportunity for Alfie to stay at Martin House and enjoy the activities they put on is an invaluable part of Alfie’s wellbeing.
In our combined 100th year me and my brother Sam, Alfie’s dad, are running the Great North Run on 11 September 2022 to raise funds for Martin House. We are aiming to complete the course in 100 minutes or less. We would really appreciate your support. Thank you. George
Martin House supports children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across West, North and East Yorkshire. Our vision is that every child and young person has access to palliative care when and where they need it.
