Ey Up, and thanks for visiting our page.
In September this year, to raise money for Blood Cancer UK, myself and four close mates (Joe, John, Steve & Sam) will be cycling the North Coast 500.
Rory is one of my closest & dearest friends. In March he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. After 4 cycles of chemo and 84 blood and platelet transfusions, Rory is due to undergo a stem cell transplant later this month and is on the road to recovery. We couldn’t be prouder of the way he’s handled himself with everything he’s been through.
Blood Cancer UK is a charity chosen by Rory and his girlfriend Mackie. As well as investing over £500 million into lifesaving research, they also offer a huge amount of personal support to patients and their families. They have provided tremendous support for Rory, by putting him in touch with people he can talk to and providing the latest health information he can trust and understand.
Blood Cancer UKs community are currently funding research that brings us closer to a cure. Right now, they fund 360 researchers across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough and the research they’ve done so far has helped transform treatments and save lives. The cure for blood cancer is now in sight and they are determined to finish the job.
The NC 500 is a 516-mile route around the north coast of Scotland, starting and ending in Inverness. We plan to do it in 7 days, whilst carrying everything we need and wild camping along the way. This is a gruelling ride for serious cyclists, which for anyone who knows me, I am not.
It’s going to be well hard, so please help me in raising as much as we can to support a cause that provides so many people across the UK with hope and has given our Rory a second chance!
