Story
There are two organisations my fundraising is in appreciation of, they are Macmillan Cancer Support and the NHS Royal United Hospital. All donations will be split between these two worthy causes.
My reasons are that cancer has affected the lives of many people including members of my family, and the care and advice received from Macmillan Cancer Support has been invaluable and lifesaving.
Equally we all know and value the NHS and the incredible work they do in caring for our loved ones and friends. In tribute and recognition to both organisations I want to raise as much money as possible to help them continue to make the wonderful difference to the wellbeing of us all.
Because of social distancing in these challenging times it is not possible for me to pursue my usual physical challenges of distance running, cycling or trekking for charity so my challenge is to achieve something completely different. In this connection there stands a fir tree at the top of my garden of over 60 feet in height which I planted over 50 years ago with the enthusiastic help of my 3 young sons. The tree when planted was only around 3 feet high and originally was my family's Christmas tree for the festive period of 1969.
At almost 84 years of age my challenge and objective is to climb the 60 feet to the top of the tree every day for two weeks commencing on May 18th.
In this endeavour I would be so grateful if you would kindly help me to raise funds for these two most worthy and incredible organisation's by making a donation to sponsor me in my challenge through my Just-Giving page.
I personally am more than willing to go to 'great heights' in my fundraising endeavours by climbing the tree daily for the two weeks duration and appeal to you all to help me by sponsoring my efforts with a donation.
Thank you for reading my story. Take care and stay safe.
Best Wishes,
George Harding.
