Fundraising for Breast Cancer Now
Story
In 2009 I was a spectator, in 2010 I’m a competitor! Having cheered Mum on as she ran ….and walked the London Marathon I decided that I would like to give it a go. The challenge however is not to beat her time but to raise more money.
After five years, Mum was given the “all clear” from breast cancer so to celebrate she decided to run the London Marathon and in the process raised more than £8,000.
As a son and grandson I have seen how breast cancer has affected the lives of both my Grandmother and Mum. My Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer just a few weeks after her mother died of the same disease. Along with my Dad and Brothers I have witnessed the challenge faced by Mum which puts my marathon efforts very much into prospective. None the less I am putting in every effort; I have cut down on drink, late nights and “Burger King” and with any luck I hope to gain revenge on Dennis the Menace and the Rhino who overtook Mum last year.
