KOP Student Programme 2014 · 1 July 2014 ·
Thank you for visiting my KOP 2014 Donations page.
This summer I shall visit Kisumu in Kenya for two weeks with the non-profit charity the 'Kenyan Orphan Project' (KOP). Kisumu has the highest number of AIDS casualities in the whole of Kenya. Around 2,500,000 children in Kenya have lost one or both parents from poverty and AIDS, meaning there are hundreds of orphans who are left to survive on their own.
KOP (Kenyan Orphan Project) works with local partner organisations around Kisumu, Kenya to improve children’s access to nutrition, health and education and give them a chance to lift themselves out of poverty.
Over the summer I will be volunteering in Kenya for 2 weeks to see first-hand where the donations are being spent. I will be going with KOP Manchester who are one of 16 university branches taking part in the KOP Student Programme 2014, raising money to support orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya. All of the students must pay for the trip themselves so that the fundraising can support the projects they'll be visiting.
To raise the money for KOP some students have been doing cake sales, tea partys, marathons and I'll be doing a skydive in April.
In Kenya your donation goes a long way. £25 can provide school meals for 3 children for a whole month!
