Story

For Jane, Mum, Nanna ❤️
Firstly, I'd just like to say thank you for visiting our page. I would say let's start this story from the beginning, but quite frankly I can't start from the beginning as it brings back too many sad memories. So I'll start as to why we are here and this Just Giving page has been set up.
My lovely Mum very sadly passed away from a brain tumour in October 2021. My Mum was such a beautiful person, so kind, the hostest with the mostest. A tiny lady with a huge heart who could chat away for hours. My Mum never deserved to go through what she went through, cancer dragged her mind and her body through so much but she battled on time after time. She never EVER gave up. My Mum enjoyed simple things in life, walking, swimming, being with friends and family. She said yes to everything. I could list who my Mum was to so many people but if you're already reading this you are probably one of those special people who knew her so you already know. And wow, don't we all miss her.
Before my Mum passed away we watched the 2021 October London Marathon on the TV. I told her I'd like to run in the London marathon one day and she said "yeah right" and raised one eyebrow. And she was right, I'd never be able to run a marathon, however it's always been an ambition of George's. So then the plan was formed. We emailed Havens Hospice and signed George up to run the London Marathon, for Mum. To our suprise George received a place to run in April 2023 and we made a pact, George does the running, I do the fundraising (I think I might have got the easier deal!)
At the start of my Mum's cancer treatment she was offered restbite sessions from Havens Hospice which involved crafts or massages, a little 'pick me up' and distraction and she really enjoyed it. They also were a listening ear, a place my parents could turn to when they had any medical questions which they needed answering. Havens Hospice were there for my Mum, and for us as a whole family through her whole cancer journey and we want to raise money for them to say thank you. We hope the money we raise will support another family going through what we went through.
We will be hosting some fundraising events to reach our fundraising target. These are vital funds for Havens Hospice, but it's also to bring us all together, a year on from such a sad time. Its to keep Mum's memory alive, for all of us, but especially for Albie and Margot.
Thank you for reading our story and supporting us. I really hope we do Mum proud. ❤️
