Story
On Thursday 17th February 2011 we were told the devasting news that our baby had died, I was 36 weeks pregnant and had two days left at work and a nursery ready and waiting.
I was induced 3 days later and our son George was born on Monday 21st February 2011, weighing 7lb7oz. We spent time with him and our families and have some treasured memories of our short time together.
SANDS was the charity who we were put in touch with to support us in the early days. To meet other parents and realise we were not the only people to have been through this was of great comfort. SANDS support anyone affected by the death of a baby and promote reseach to reduce the loss of babies lives.
Stillbirth rates in the UK are one of the highest in the developed world, 17 babies are stillborn each day and over 50% of these will never have a known cause
The reason as to why we lost George was never found and the guilt that we could have done something differently will never go however we have now been blessed with our George's little brother Alfie.
Raising money for SANDS is obviously s cause close to our hearts, we think of George everyday and will never forget our son.
By raising money to fund research into the cause of stillbirth, we can hopefully one day prevent anyone else having to go through this heartache.
Thank you.
