Story
Join me on this journey and help us highlight the 380 million people in Africa who still have no opportunity to get to know Jesus. By joining Step Inland for Lent, you will be a part of reaching them, and seeing the Great Commission fulfilled. The journey from Mombasa to Chad was the original vision of our founder. He wanted to reach the inlands of Africa with the gospel. To go where missionaries had never travelled and take the gospel to those with no opportunity to hear it. Our vision remains the same, but now those Inlands are not just geographical. Cultural and ideological barriers mean that thousands still haven't heard the good news.
In Ireland our Christian heritage also includes a missionary journey that was to change the spiritual landscape of the Island. St Patrick brought the Christian Gospel to a land in much need and his legacy in reaching unreached people is well established. Saint Patrick’s Way: The Pilgrim walk, is a 132km (82 mile) trail connecting Armagh and Downpatrick as the two locations on the island of Ireland most closely related to Saint Patrick. So, to identify with the vision of those early AIM missionaries, and those who have subsequently journeyed inland to Africa with the Gospel, I plan to complete the Saint Patrick’s Way in 6 stages during Lent.
How could you walk with me during this pilgrimage?
- Walk with me in prayer – there is prayer information available that follows the route from Mombasa to Chad with modern day information, see this link https://eu.aimint.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Prayer-journey-mobile.pdf
- Walk with me along the beautiful and historic route – but don’t worry you don’t have to go the whole way! Maybe you can join me for one of the days in March (mainly Saturdays), or even for a mile or two - I can send you the schedule of the walks if you contact me at geoff.donaldson@aimint.org
- Walk with me in contributing to the AIM work in reaching unreached people groups with the Gospel https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/geoff-donaldson
If you, or your church are wondering about getting involved in a missionary journey, then this is a great opportunity to take some first steps, come along and chat with me about how you think the Lord is leading and guiding you.
