Story
Take a moment, close your eyes….. now think about how you’d go about your day without sight.
Every day, 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss. This number is set to double by 2050.
In support of the life changing work the Guide Dogs do, helping those with sight loss, I’ve challenged myself to complete the Great North run; with a fundraising target of £800.
As someone who can only just run 5k at a snails pace, half a marathon is going to be a huge challenge. This means only one thing, training, training and more training. In total, this challenge will see me run 200 miles over the next 12 weeks.
If you’d like to help me reach my target, please sponsor me. Each guide dog helps to bring independence back to those living with sight loss.
This is my story …..my journey with the Guide Dogs began in May, with the arrival of our guide dog pub in training, Jeanie. Over the next 18 months we will help Jeanie master the basic’s before she moves to her advanced training, before moving to her new home as an official Guide Dog.
All funds raised with help guide and buddy dog services, mobility training, education support, sighted guides and much more;
£125 buys a Starter Kit for a new guide dog owner
£332 could provide eight weeks of Early Diagnosis Support to a child with sight loss and their family
£710 could buy a Birthing Kit containing all the essential equipment for a guide dog mum to safely deliver her puppies
Together we can help the Guide Dogs continue to provide their life-changing services.
