Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I did it! I ran the Marathon! Phew...
2009's London Marathon was the hottest on record and many seasoned Marathoners said it was the most difficult yet.
Maybe it was a blessing in disguise then that my Marathon buddy, Angeli, got a knee injury and we had to take it slower than we had planned.
This meant we got to enjoy the sunshine, chat to fellow runners and the immense number of incredibly supportive spectators who turned out with jelly babies, water, bandages and shouts of encouragement on offer the whole way around. The level of support from complete strangers really was incredible.
Amazingly, we both managed to spot all our friends and family at least once along the way which made it all the more special, particularly at mile 22 when it was least expected and much needed.
We finally finished in 5 hours 59 mins and 51 seconds. More than an hour longer than planned but Angeli was in such pain with her knee, I'm amazed she got round, let alone managed a sub 6 hour time.
So yes, it was certainly a challenge... a year's worth of long Sunday training runs, going to the gym after a long day at work, joining a running club, cutting down on alcohol and sweets. All worth it though for the money raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Thank you so much to everyone that donated. It's still not too late to make a donation though if you were waiting to see if I was really going to go through with it!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
