Story
In search of a new challenge, I have decided to cycle the 300 miles from London to Paris over 4 days for Macmillan Cancer Support. Those of you who know me know walking is usually my choice of adventure but I have decided it’s time to push myself out of my comfort zone by getting on a bike – not something which comes particularly naturally to me, I remember rather embarrassingly failing my cycling proficiency test at school, something which put me off even getting near the saddle for a very long time!
With a busy training schedule in place I have already battled wind, rain, my slightly dubious map reading abilities and my limited ability to signal left without wobbling all over the road and am now questioning why I chose to live in such a hilly part of the country!!
Nonetheless, training is well underway and when you hear even a few of the stories of how Macmillan has helped so many people it makes it all seem incredibly worthwhile. As well as financial and medical support, Macmillan also offer considerable emotional support and advice which is crucial in helping people come to terms with having Cancer and enable them to successfully conquer the mental, as well as physical challenges and continue to live a happy and healthy life.
We all know too many people who have suffered with Cancer but with the help of Macmillan we will all hopefully know an increasing number of people who have beaten Cancer. Any donation, large or small will be much appreciated and help towards, what I hope you will agree, is a very worthy cause.
