Story
25th July 2018, the big day we had all been waiting for. The joy of baby Ruby arriving in to the world however was rudely interrupted by HELLP syndrome. We had no idea stood outside Southmead maternity unit of the horrors that were unfolding. I won't recount the details as they are truly terrifying, we waited and watched as Sarah's life hung in the balance, Adams not far behind. Sarah's organs were failing and she had to be placed into an induced coma. Nothing prepares you for the sheer terror of losing someone you love when it should be the happiest time, safe to say we all carry that pain somewhere inside and always will. Sarah was blue lighted to Kings liver ward where it transpired within a week that the she needed a liver transplant. We were so lucky that someone else's loss gave her that opportunity. The procedure went well and after months of recovery Sarah came home in late October to continue her recovery, back with her love and beautiful daughter at long last. Organ transplant saves lives, the generosity of one grieving family saved another and without the amazing staff at Southmead and Kings this story may not have had the happy ending. Please give what you can, they so desperately need funds to provide accommodation for loved ones and packs of basics for people arriving as Adam did, unprepared and terrified. We would love to raise funds for the equipment which would help patients and their families stays easier, such as to help communication when ventilated. We are incredibly grateful and would like to give something back to ease the pain for the next family in our position. Thank you for all your support now and then, there was so much love for Sarah, Adam and Ruby it was so touching for us all and gave us strength when we needed it most.
