Story
Being diagnosed with cancer as a young adult changes everything. As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma (a form of blood cancer) in June 2019. I started chemotherapy in August, It is going to be a long journey to beating my diagnosis but I am going to make my journey a positive one!!
On the days I feel up to it I am going to try complete a certain amount of miles a day (it may take longer than a month). CLIC Sargent have supported me in so many different ways. When I got my diagnosis my Oncology nurse put me in touch with a social worker from CLIC Sargent, she got me the grant of £180 to help cover the cost of trips to Aberdeen for scans etc and keeps in touch making sure I’m doing okay. As I said above I want to make my journey a positive one, so for the month of September I’m going to raise money to give back to this amazing charity!
CLIC Sargent’s Young People’s Service is for young adults aged 16-24 who have been diagnosed with cancer, their families, and the people they care about. It’s available across the UK, in both main cancer hospitals and local hospitals.
CLIC Sargent care teams work with young people and families to help them get vital financial support. They arrange CLIC Sargent grants and help teens/young adults get the benefits and other support they’re entitled to.
The money we are raising will help fund the grants we get when we get our diagnosis, it helps so much.
