Story

Update (06/05/10):

I completed my sponsored walk along 42 miles of the Ridgeway at the weekend! From Overton Hill to Streatley. It was over three days so I was laden with heavy camping equipment along the way too. It was tough (especially the last 5 miles) and it rained (a lot), haled (a bit) and there was even some sun (for about 5 minutes!)

I learnt that 42 miles is further than I thought. For example, it's more than the distance from Liverpool to Manchester or York to Hull. Sheffield to Leeds, or Chelmsford to Ipswich or Cambridge to Peterborough.

BUT I made it, and came out completely unscathed... (apart from a sore knee and hip, aching muscles in legs and back, sore shoulders and exhaustion).

BIG THANKS to everyone who has donated so far, and to everyone else, I really need your support!!!

I will be volunteering in for Raleigh International for 10 weeks this summer (5th July - 12 September) and consequently am trying to raise money for to continue their invaluable work in some of the poorest communities. To raise money for my expedition I am going to walk along half of the Ridgeway (42 miles) over the May bank holiday weekend and am asking for your sponsorship.

is a home to more than a billion people and is beautifully rich in culture, but it is also one of the poorest countries in the world. Since February 2008, volunteers in have built 145 eco-sanitation units and dug 15km of elephant proof trenches. They are also building a primary school to serve children of the Multimoola village. The indigenous community of Multimoola live in substandard conditions resulting in poor health. By constructing a school building, volunteers working on this project will be helping to improve education among the community. As a result of this community project, the government will consider implementing an electricity infrastructure.
