Story
My amazing stepdad Trevor was diagnosed with mesothelioma in November 2021. This is quite a rare but aggressive type of cancer.
Upon his diagnosis our worlds were shattered as his cancer was very advanced and terminal & we knew we were on borrowed time.
Trevor had two stays at Myton Hospice Coventry. Once to help with his medication and the second time during Easter 2022 where he sadly passed away on 17th April.
Trevor was adamant in his final days he wanted to be at Myton as they had taken such great care of his mom several years earlier.
During both his stays at Myton, Trevor was treated with the upmost care, respect & dignity - right until the end. The staff and volunteers were incredible, nothing was ever too much trouble.
We were so lucky as a family we were all able to spend time with Trevor during his stays at Myton and the hospice have continued to support us as a family even after his death.
Doing a firewalk has always been one of those “bucket list” things for me & as soon as I saw the event for Myton I just knew I had to sign up. However. in order for me to complete the fire walk I need to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorships.
I know times are hard for everyone but if you could even spare a £1 to help this worthwhile cause I would be very grateful.
Thank You
Gemma xx
WHAT IS A FIREWALK? When the fire has burned to red-hot embers it is raked level and prepared for the walk. Participants go to the fire – remove their footwear and one by one are invited to walk the coals

Help us raise £20,000 at this year's Firewalk in aid of The Myton Hospices! This will help ensure The Myton Hospices can continue to provide its services free of charge to people with a terminal or life limiting illness, and their families, when they need us most. This year they have to raise £9.1 million of the £11.6 million they need and can't do it without support from people like me and you. To reach their target of £20,000 they rely entirely on sponsorship. Have a look at the difference the money you raise will make: £50 covers the cost of two hours specialist nursing care, £175 is the upkeep cost of our relatives accommodation for a week, £460 will fund an inpatient bed for one day, £2,000 would buy a patient specific recliner chair to enable patients to spend time out of bed. Thank you so much!
