Exciting news..!! A lifetime's ambition will soon be realised as I will be attempting to scale the tallest free standing mountain in the world, Kilimanjaro, this June!
Every year at LawNet (my work place) I run a UK based challenge for our members. This year as it's LawNet's 30th anniversary it was decided that we should do something extra special - and Kilimanjaro was chosen!
This is definitely a step up with Kilimanjaro standing at a mighty (and daunting!) 19,341 feet / 5,895 metres (planes travel lower than that!).
We had lots of interest in taking part - but having read exactly what's involved many dropped out! Eventually a team of 7 hardy souls were left standing and fully committed.
Team participants include: George Coombes, Jo Barton, Charlotte Dixon, Nicola Weldon, Qaiser Khanzada, Ed O'Rourke & Jan Rzedzian.
The trek itself is self-funded but we are all taking the opportunity to raise funds for our own chosen charity (see our team page). My chosen charity is Mind...a charity close to my heart as nearly two years ago a close friend of mine took his own life.
Any donations are welcome for this great cause.
