Fundraising Project Overview
Greenwich Community College has actively been involved in the Legacy Champions project for over 2 years, where we as well as various other Host Borough Colleges participate in recruiting Legacy Champions to work on a local sustainability or community project to benefit fellow students and the wider community. This project is supported by EDF Energy, the youth action charitable partner, Envision and Emmaus homeless charity.
This year, our BTEC Public Service students have based their project on: Raising the Awareness of Homelessness. To execute their project, the students have organised ‘A Day in the Life of a Homeless Person’ on Thursday 6th June 2013, where they will challenge themselves to a sponsored sleep out at the College overnight. Students aim to raise awareness of homelessness and raise sponsorship money to support Emmaus Charity during the day, by engaging with the public about their project and distribute flyers.
So why are we doing what we are doing?
The students perceive homelessness as a huge issue in their local area in South East London, and an issue which is very close to them. They want to tackle homelessness and get anyone and everyone, rough sleepers or hidden people who are homeless, living a better life, making their dreams come true and simply happy.
How YOU can make a contribution and donate?
As part of their 24 hour experience as a homeless person, the students would greatly appreciate it if you are able to sponsor them in making a generous contribution by donating money for Emmaus Charity online
