In memory of Zac Pritchard
The Behind the Smile charity was created in memory of our son, Zac, who ended his life after a period of mental ill health. Zac was born and died in August, 29 years apart. This will be his second anniversary of his passing, hence 62 miles!

Story

Behind the Smile provides peer support via face to face groups and an online platform, to support any adult with mental ill health and those bereaved by suicide. By offering the support we also aim to combat loneliness and isolation, which can be difficult to cope with at any time but this has been highlighted during lockdown, and can be a source of mental ill health. Funds are needed to continue providing support, running activities and related resources. We are also planning to join with classes teaching meditation, Tai Chi etc. There are ways we would like to offer practical support and therapeutic services, but we need funding. We will be starting a befriending service, providing training in mental health related topics and offering telephone support when get the funding to cover the costs. Suicide is on the rise so we want to work to prevent this without the long waiting lists. Support for those bereaved by suicide is hard to find offer bereavement support for touched by suicide
