Our darling Katie lost her battle against Incurable Poorly Differentiated Signet Ring Cell Adenocarcinoma of the stomach on the 1st September 2021. This vicious disease has a history of hiding so well that by the time it is discovered it has metastasised to other parts of the body.

So it was when Katie's symptoms began in September 2019 they presented as ovarian cysts. By the time she had her first surgery in October it became clear that the tumours they removed were secondary in nature. This of course meant she was already at Stage 4.

The primary tumour was quickly discovered in her stomach where it had sat giving few symptoms. After various tests we got the final diagnosis. Due to my unrelenting research when the words 'Signet Ring Cell'  were uttered in the room I knew we had a battle on our hands and battle we did.

With the help of friends family and the excellent care of her Oncologist Dr  Amen Sibtain and The London Clinic we set about Kate's treatment with military prescion. She stormed through 12 rounds of Chemo and was then offered Immunotherapy which unfortunately failed miserably. More surgery followed and more Chemo and Radiotherapy and still despite being held at bay the Cancer just sat there creating havoc within her body.

We had second opinions looked into all options but sadly as this is a rare Cancer that is nearly always diagnosed too late we failed to save her. She battled bravely on, not wanting to leave her family especially 'Her Boys! '  (Gary Chester and Chase). She loved her job with 'Gojumpin Ltd' and had so much more living to do. She was Angry! We are Angry! But in the end a series of unforseen side effects took her from us much more quickly that we had hoped. She was still in a treatment programme.

My advice to anyone that gets reflux or heartburn on a regular basis is to get it checked out. Do not be fobbed off with Proton Pump Inhibitors or Gaviscon tablets. Especially if you are female and under fifty. The only chance of a cure with this Bastard is finding if before it has spread out its evil tentacles!

We are asking for donations instead of floral tributes in order to try and save another family from this heartbreak. Kate gave it everything she had! With her mantra of "I'm NOT having it! "  But sadly this incidious disease did not get the message. Let's hope that with research and dedication it soon will!  Please give generously.  ❤
