Last week a gay Russian teen was forced to commit an act of self-rape for criticizing the republic tyrant behind the gay purges, Ramzan Kadyrov. He was the moderator of an anti-republic Telegram group, and was forced to apologise and then insert a bottle inside himself while being filmed. The horrific video later went viral on social media.
Back in 2017 reports emerged of gay concentration camps in Chechnya, and while we were all seemingly outraged then, 2020 has taught us that outrage alone isn't enough. We have to make an active stand against how human beings are being treated in 2020.
Despite countless reports, the purges were never investigated, and still continue today although have likely moved more underground than previous years. Two purges have taken place that we - the western media - know about (once in 2017 and 2019), let's do what we can to save Russian people from any more violence.
Putin has bribed Russia into voting him in at the next election, which would see him in power for the next 20 years; passing on barbaric treated toward LGBTQ people onto generations to come, with the treatment only getting worse.
Rainbow Railroad is a Canadian charity that offers support to LGBTQ individuals seeking a safe haven from state-sponsored or enabled violence. This includes airfare and financial support for travel-related costs. We provide information and resources on how to make an asylum claim directly in safer countries or through the UNHCR process.
It costs £1000 to save one life, and so I've set an optimistic target of £5000 because it would amazing to give Rainbow Railroad a sizeable donation to continue their amazing work.
