As pretty much the whole BJJ world now knows, a number of horrific events have occured around one of the more well known US BJJ teams.

As a reaction to this, the ever irrepressible Can has thus decided to organise a 24 hour Grapplethon to raise ££ for Rape Crisis England & Wales. Here's what he has to say

I was appalled when I read that a woman had been raped by two of her team mates earlier this year. I would like to turn the strong feelings about that incident towards something positive. 

We will therefore be grappling for 24 hours starting at 09:00 on Saturday 4th May 2013, trying to raise as much as possible for Rape Crisis. They work to increase awareness about the prevalance of sexual violence, press for change and support survivors.

Just like before, we're planning to stream the event live across the internet: Steve had some big plans when I spoke to him before, so with his help it should be much better quality this time. :)

Last year the GrappleThon raised over £3,000: let's see if we can beat that this time around! 

I am pleased to say I will be joining Can and other hardy souls in this Grapplethon to raise money (and what a good way to raise money than through doing what you love!) for Rape Crisis England & Wales, an unfortunetly much needed network of centres and support groups.
