Story
Sarah - my wife and the boys' mummy - passed away in March 2017. She suffered from breast cancer and received wonderful end-of-life palliative care at St Giles Hospice, Whittington. Everything was geared around Sarah to ensure she received the care she needed and the hospice also made it as easy as possible for her family to be with her. It allowed us to have some nice moments together despite the difficult circumstances. St Giles has also continued to support the three of us in the years following Sarah's death. It is important that hospices are there for people when they need them and we have been fundraising ever since. Now that both Oliver and Edward are both 10 years of age, they are now able to participate in the St Giles cycle event and they will be taking on the 23 mile cycle route. It will be the furthest either of them have cycled. We hope you will be able to help us raise money for this great cause.
This is a message from St Giles Hospice - Supporters taking part in our Cycle St Giles events over the last seven years have raised more than £400,000 to fund care for local people, which is truly amazing! Their entry fee covers the administration cost of the event, which means any money their are able to raise in sponsorship is crucial to the success of the event. Every penny makes as a huge difference. £40 could pay for one hour of our Advice and Referrals team, £202 could pay for visits to a patient in their own home by our community nurses and £676 could pay for 24 hours of hospice care for a patient at the end of their life
