I have been lucky enough to get a place in the London Marathon on Sunday 2nd October 2022 via the ballot  after trying for many years.
Getting in via the ballot means that I can choose a charity close to my heart. Therefore, I will be running in memory of my friend Christian Capon, who sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2017, and raising money for the charity started in his memory - Lasting Memories Cancer Trust.
The charity was founded by Christian's brothers Jolyon and Luke along with his beloved wife Lucy and was created as an ongoing tribute to seven of their family members who sadly lost their battles with cancer. These include Christian, who passed away aged just 37 and their mum Julie who passed away in 2018 aged 62.
The grief experienced in supporting a loved one through cancer is harrowing. It is devastating to see someone consumed by illness and the ongoing effects that cancer has on all areas of their life, including their relationships with family. Collectively, they strive to make a positive difference and help families create lasting memories because, from their personal experiences, they know just how much memories matter.

Lasting Memories is a charitable trust run by a Board of Trustees on a voluntary basis. All of the board have been personally affected in some capacity by cancer and are driven by their experiences to provide support for those in our local community who are currently facing similar situations. They pride themselves on being solely run by volunteers and ensure that as much of their funding as possible is used to help those affected by cancer, in their time of need.
