Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may or may not be aware two of my Children (Edward, 5 & Joseph, 2) were recently admitted to Great Ormond Street Renal Department with Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (HUS), after contracting e-coli. Both Edward and Joseph were seriously ill, suffering from Kidney Failure, and had to undergo a sustained period of dialysis in order to get their Kidney's functioning again. They remained in GOSH for 3 weeks receiving intensive support and have now returned back home in good health and, hopefully, with no long term effects of the illness.
During this time Edward and Joseph received excellent care from the GOSH renal team, care and support that was also extended to my Wife (Ali) and I whilst we remained bedside for those 3 intense weeks. It was during this time that I felt compelled to raise money for the GOSH team to help ensure that any Family that found themselves in a similar situation to us received the same amazing level of care. Thus, I have now signed up to run the London Marathon on behalf of GOSH.
Those that know me know I like to keep fit but I am partial to a drink (the odd gallon here and there to keep the wolf from the door) and, having never run more than 10 miles, know this will be a great challenge for me. I might even shed a bit of excess timber and grow my chicken legs as an added bonus!!
I welcome and appreciate any support you can provide to what is a truly great cause and hopefully can achieve the £2000 sponsorship target I have set.
Many Thanks
Gav
