FINAL THANKS: You all know the result. Gav pipped me by just under 40 minutes. My only excuse - I got stuck behind a tractor.
GAV - 2:34:56
RYAN - 3:14:08
Thanks so much for all your support. Well over £2000 raised!
UPDATE: Both Gav and I ran the Wilmslow Half Marathon on Sunday (19th March). Unfortunately I stumbled slightly at the start allowing Gav to open up a 17 minute lead on me!!! Gav finished (8th) in 1:11 with me closing fast on 1:28! I also have achilles tendonitis without which (and the stumble) I could possibly have ducked under 1 hour. Never mind!.......Thanks for all the sponsorship so far!!
Good day to all,
The London Marathon - AGAIN! I'm afraid so people, so swallow hard and dig deep! As background, it's always been my dream to run the marathon with my two brothers. Unfortunately, older brother Paul is, well, old and is running (not literally) scared using the very poor excuse that he should be with his fiance as she nears the end of her pregnancy! Rubbish, I say - your job was done 7+ months ago. Nothing to do now till they're old enough to play football!
Also unfortunately, my younger brother Gav (in the photo next to the handsome one) runs 5 minute miles hence my dream remains exactly that. A double Hernia operation in January should slow him up but I'll still be trotting in 45 minutes behind!
I'll update this page now and again with different photos (we are considering some 'artistic' shots for the ladies) and updates on training etc. As a guide to how things are going please see the current finish line ETA's.
Ryan: 3:15:00 Gav: 2:40:00
Fortunately both Gav and I got in through the ballot this year and are able to raise money for Cancer Research UK. I worked in this area during my PhD and we (as with many) have lost family and friends to the disease so it's a cause we're both determined to support. Any contribution you can make will be fantastic!!
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
