Story
The target was reached in December 2022.
Background: Since 18th May 2020 I had walked, jogged and run 54 x 5K's in 4 months, just to keep fit which, at 70 yrs old, was quite a challenge. But, having come so far, it seems a shame to stop - so as of 18th September 2020 I am now set on completing a "One Million Metres" (200 x 5K) challenge to raise much-needed funds for GAT.
Adding a further 146 x 5K's may well take until November 2022 to reach this goal so I will post regular updates to measure progress below:
Monday, Sept 21st, did the 55th x 5K - only 145 more. Monday Sept 28th, two more 5K's have been ticked off.
October 1st and my 58th x 5K, October 9th and my 62nd x 5K , October 17th and my 65th x 5K, October 22nd and my 67th x 5K. November 25th and my 75nd x 5K - only 125 to go. A special thank you to Mrs A for adding £125 to my total and to Mrs E for adding £200. December 22nd and my 81st x 5K - only 119 to go in 2021.
After all that January snow and flooding, I have now clocked up my 90th x 5K by the end of February - so only 110 to go in 2021. March 20th and I added another 10 x 5K's taking me to 100. March 26th took me to 103 x 5K's. April 2nd and it's 107 x 5K's. Celebrated my 71st birthday with my 110th x 5K and carried on. By April 25th 115 x 5K's done. Now in mid-June I had done 122 x 5K's. The end of November got me to 141 x 5K's.
By mid-January 2022 I had done 146 x 5K's. February 3rd and I'd done 150 x 5K's. April marked my 72nd birthday which added further motivation. End of May and 164 x 5K's done. Reached my personal weight loss target too, which pleased my Diabetic Nurse. By the end of June 170 x 5K's and by August 2nd 177 x 5ks - leaving just 23 to go. In December 2022 the challenge was completed.
