George and the Giant Pledge was set up by Vicki and Alex Woodall when their son George aged 4 was diagnosed with a rare PNET soft tissue Ewing’s Sarcoma. While George was undergoing his treatment, they set up the charity to initially raise £100,000. Having spent some time doing just a few hours of charity work at the Royal Marsden in Sutton last week in the children's cancer unit to clean up the school's garden and a play area that the children use, I was overwhelmed with the smiles that the children still showed, given that they are poorly.  They show such bravery in what can only be described as possibly the worse thing that should ever happen to a child. 

It was therefore an easy decision to put my body and mind to the test.  After all, if a child with cancer can go through the chemo, radiotherapy and physical and mental endurance then I can run just over 13 miles and try and raise as much as I can for George and the Giant Pledge and the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
