Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May 2018 we heard the devastating news that Dad had cancer. We found out later there was nothing the Doctors could do. His health deteriorated quickly and he was in hospital a fair bit. All Dad had asked of us was that he came home and spent what was left surrounded by his girls.
As Dad’s health deteriorated we found it increasingly more difficult to care for him. Even with the support of carers we felt the strain of looking after someone so poorly. We were becoming desperate and that’s when the Thames Hospice team stepped in. Without them we would not have got through it and without them we would not have been able to look after our Dad at home. The rapid response team were our guardian angels. They gave Dad first rate care and talked us through what to expect. We relied so heavily on that team and they came out to us whenever we called and we called a lot. Their endless patience, support and empathy came at a time we felt desperate, lost and helpless. Because of that team we were all there right by Dad when he passed away and for that we will be forever grateful.
Going on such an adventure and completing this charity walk seems very fitting. Our Dad loved adventure and he would have approved of his girls walking the Sahara desert to help fund such a wonderful charity.
