Story

Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) is a chronic condition resulting in sudden severe facial pain. It is caused by compression of the trigeminal nerve and is typically as a result of an underlying condition, such as MS or brain tumour; although some unfortunate people just develop it.

People with this condition can experience regular attacks for days, weeks or months at a time. In severe cases attacks may occur hundreds of times a day; often triggered by mild facial stimulation such as brushing teeth or putting on makeup.

There is no known cure.

My wife (who is a sufferer) and myself recently attended an annual meeting of the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association (TNA) and we were moved by the plight of some people with the condition; for whom the prospect of finding a cure one day, helps them to continue living on.

I wish to raise money for TNA UK. This charity is entirely dependent on donations and annual membership fees in order to continue its work. They receive no funding whatsoever from central Government or corporate organisations, and are therefore totally dependent on charitable donations from people like you. Please donate as much as you can to this wonderful cause.

PS. Whoever donates the most, gets to choose what fancy dress costume I have to compete in :-)

It aims to provide information and support to members, and to raise awareness of trigeminal neuralgia amongst medical professions and the general public. Above all, it is there to provide hope and encouragement for patients who can feel isolated and depressed as a result of this excrutiatingly painful condition.
