Story
Grenfell Arabic Speaking Women Appeal
Al-Hasaniya Moroccan Women’s Centre seeks to serve the health, welfare, educational and cultural needs of Moroccan and Arabic-speaking women and their families resident in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea and London-wide. Al-Hasaniya are an award winning organisation (including the 2010 Guardian Charity Awards) and are globally recognised by the UN for their work in empowering women regardless of their religious or sexual orientation.
The centre was originally founded in 1985 in order to help Moroccan women and their families access NHS health services, which remained out of their reach due to a lack of knowledge, language difficulties and cultural barriers. The centre’s work subsequently played a significant role in shaping health services for the Arabic-speaking population of West London.
Since then the Al-Hasaniya centre has grown to serve all Arabic-speaking women and their families, developing a programme designed to meet the myriad everyday needs of the women who come through its doors.
Al-Hasaniya is providing vital support for Arabic speaking women and their families, in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fire, as they start the process of rebuilding their lives.

This appeal is to support Al-Hasaniya in their Grenfell Arabic Speaking Women Appeal, with the following provisions:
£6500 for a years provision - Luncheon provision for women and their children once a week. This will be a crucial service as many mothers live in hostels and once the winter season settles in, it will be jolly difficult to provide hot meals. This will provide an opportunity to talk and share information, as well as monitor official support.
£2000 - To support those needing to go to hospital to visit their families, see their lawyers and commute at times with buggies.
£15000 - To cover the cost of hiring a part time volunteer co-ordinator to work with our team of volunteers to ensure their time is managed in the best possible way to benefit our women. This is needed now and urgently.
£3000 - To cover unexpected running costs as a direct result of the disaster.
£2120 - Just giving fees, Credit Card handling fees and other associated costs with donation.
Total £28,620
