After 7 years of trying, I finally received my place in the London marathon and without doubt Kings college hospital was my chosen charity to run for and hopefully raise as much money as possible.

As many of you are aware, unfortunately our family have had too many dealings with this amazing hospital over the last few years with both my mum and cousin spending time here.

Firstly, my mum had a freak accident in May 2018 and Kings college were amazing. From the moment we were rushed through their doors, calling the team of staff back into work after a long shift to carry out emergency surgery, the time mum spent there and ongoing treatment, our family and mum can't praise this amazing hospital and the angels that work there enough!

Mum is thankfully now well on the road to recovery and fingers cross with recent ongoing stem cell research could perhaps one day be 100% fully recovered.

Secondly, my cousin was first diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 12 years ago and during this time has tried several drugs to help manage her daily symptoms and slow progression which, if left untreated, would cause continued disability. To date the treatments haven’t been as successful as hoped which led her to undergo Stem Cell treatment at King’s College Hospital in 2018.

The treatment involved an initial round of chemotherapy then extraction of her stem cells. The second stage took place 6 weeks later and was another, stronger round of chemotherapy, reinsertion of her stem cells and a 3 week stay in one of King’s specialist wards while her immune system recovered to a safe level.

It could take several years for her immune system to fully recover and she will continue to be closely monitored by King’s.

To date less than 150 patients in the UK have had HSCT for MS and King’s College Hospital is one of the leading hospitals offering this treatment.

She has under gone other MS treatments which have involved being an in-patient at King’s and always received the same high standard of care for which she and the whole family, will always be grateful.

I ask you please to donate as much as you can, no matter how small to help me raise as much money as possible to continue their research and supporting these great causes.

I shall be keeping this page update with current training etc so please check back soon!

Many thanks for all your support and hopefully i'll see many of you throughout the race and at the finish line for a beer or two!
