Macmillan London to Paris · 3 July 2013 ·
In September 2012 a friend and former colleague, Billy Hannah, passed away after a long fight against cancer. He was only 51. His humour, which he displayed throughout his life, and courage to fight this disease that sadly afflicts so many people is an example to us all. He is sadly missed by his family and all who had the pleasure to meet him.
During his fight to combat his illness he was assisted and comforted by the efforts of Macmillan Nurses. Their efforts greatly alleviated his suffering and brought comfort to his family.
To acknowledge the support the nurses provided I wanted in some way to thank them and at the same time celebrate Billy’s life. Being a keen cyclist what better way to do so than by cycling the 485kms. from London to Paris!
I will be taking part in this event from the 3 to the 6 July 2013. The event is organised through Macmillan Nurses.
The itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: London to Dover (145kms.) Dover to Calais by ferry not pedalo!
Day 2: Calais to Arras (125kms.)
Day 3: Arras to Compiegne (125kms.)
Day 4: Compiegne to Paris (90kms.)
The aim is to raise a minimum of £1600 so that further cancer sufferers, a disease that affects 1 in 3 people in the UK, can receive the same level of support and care Billy received.
Please support me in this worthwhile fundraising event.
