Story
I'm currently doing a virtual Land's End to John o' Groats walk, based on the mileage I'm accruing from my daily lockdown exercise. Both my physical and mental health are significantly benefitting from this challenge, and I thought it would be excellent if I could help others benefit too.
I've created this page because I want to make a difference. I'm inspired to raise money for the Masonic Charitable Foundation as part of my participation in the Relief Chest Scheme.
The Masonic Charitable Foundation is funded principally through the generosity of Freemasons and their families, and is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country. The Foundation provides around £20 million in support each year to help other charities, hospices, air ambulances, international disaster relief appeals and Masonic families - to name but a few.
Of particular significance during the COVID-19 pandemic, the MCF has provided £3.2 million in grants to 607 national COVID-19 relief projects, including donations to 'Mind' for mental health support services, and to Age UK to support older people through the pandemic. Some 30 homeless charities have been awarded £843,384 in grants helping to ensure homeless and vulnerably-housed people stay safe, healthy and supported throughout the pandemic and beyond.
Many other initiatives have been taking place during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the donating of laptops for schoolchildren to continue with their education from home, laptops & tablets for care homes to enable their residents to keep in touch with relatives, and the TLC (Teddies for Loving Care) programme, which supplies participating hospitals with teddy bears for distressed children.
Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about this cause the better, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
