Bolton Hospice was the place my mother Margaret spent her last few days of her fight against cancer.

Bolton Hospice brought to her the best care at a difficult time.

They rely massively on charitable donations to keep them doing what they do for Bolton people .

I am raising funds to help them continue their good work.

I have chosen boxing as a means to do this.  because my father tried his best to teach me to box when I was a young child but with little success.

Tuesday 7th May update : over 7 weeks have gone by since We started the 10 week training course for ourboxing event for Bolton Hospice on 26th May. Only 25 days left to train . Have been losing about 3lb a week so total weight loss now is one and a half stone.Gonna now increase my running ( now that I can run) and hopefully put extra training days in at weekends. I have caught a few hard punches in sparring sessions that resulted in a black eye and a sore nose (both of which are now  ok). Win or lose on the big day I think everyone taking part is looking forward to boxing and to enjoying the day.

If anyone gets to know this man you will realise what a lovely sound as a pound bloke he is

If you do meet him in real life you will probably think he looks bigger than on the telly

If you square up to him in a boxing ring as the bell goes for round one I can assure you he looks even bigger than in  real life
