Story
I have been incredibly lucky to have been offered a place with the BHF to run the London Marathon 2024 and fundraise for this incredible charity.
In 2010 I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a heart problem and had to have a pacemaker fitted.
I was 26 at the time and had 2 episodes of black outs. One of which was behind the wheel of car. Following this I had various tests done ECG, Holter Tapes to find that my heart rate was dropping too low and on occasion pausing for a few seconds. The tests and the insertion of the pacemaker happened all within a week and I never really had time to process everything that was going on.
The British Heart Foundation provided me with support by phone and email when I needed it and I spent countless hours scrolling through and reading the 100s or resources that they have available on the website and in leaflets.
They continue to provide me with that support 13 years later. I turn 40 next year and for me this is a great way to see out my thirties and give back to a charity that is very close to my heart (pun intended) and gave me the support I needed at a time in my life that was daunting and scary.
If you can spare some money to support me on this journey or even just a message of encouragement it would be massively appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Gary
