Thanks for taking time to look at my page. I'm running this for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, a charity close to my heart for many years. This year they've helped us as a family out, so it'll be nice to put something back.
As many of you know I've always been the sort of person who hates running. Theres people who can run, people who can't and people who won't. I was definitely in the third category! It's also the reason I was a goalkeeper when I played both football and hockey!
My reasons for running are threefold, the first is to raise some money for the Benevolent Fund. I'd like to break 200 pounds if I can, so any help you can give me to get over and above that would be appreciated.
The second reason is all about me. I've been getting around to loosing a proper amount of weight for a while and training for this event has given me an extra reason to drop a few pounds. I'm trying to drop 2 and a half stone in time for the race, so fingers crossed, it'll help give me an extra nudge to drop a few more pounds!
Thirdly I want to do it in a reasonable time for a tubby Forty something. I've had a go at the distance and my current best is 1:15, so anything quicker than that will be a bonus, but I'd like to be sub 1:07. So that's the goals set!
It's a bit more than just a sponsored run to me, so once again thanks in advance for your support.
