Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
In May 2024 I have accepted the offer to complete the Brathay 10 in 10 challenge.
The challenge requires me to complete the 'undulating' / hilly Windermere marathon course 10 days in a row. So 262 miles on foot over 10 days.
Having reached the ripe old age of 62 - this also presents it challenges :)
The elevation profile of the course speaks volumes with over 1800 feet of elevation each day - coupled with the inevitable impact that the downhills will have on my quads and toes.
Training for the event starts now and will require me to complete 15 - 20 marathons before then - hopefully including one back to back weekend where I get to understand the difficulty of running a marathon 18 hours or so after finishing one.
Wish me luck - I am going to need it!
The reason for me undertaking the challenge is to raise much needed funds for the Brathay Trust.
Brathay is a charity that amongst other things supports children who have perhaps 'lost their way in life' and need some support / motivation to get themselves back on their feet.
You can read more about the charity on www.brathay.org.uk/charity/
